Social Media Guidelines

These guidelines are meant to provide employees and students good advice about social media practices. We want our community to engage with us, have fun and be authentic.

Review our college’s social media policy.

This is not to say that you should be stiff and formal or afraid to say anything at all online. Be creative, have fun with it, and be yourself!

Parking

Members of the media can park in the designated two-hour visitor parking spots or contact Communications to request a parking pass.

Public Records Requests

The Open Public Records Act requires records maintained by state, county, and city governments be made available to the public. For information or to submit a records request, contact Wayne Mask, Administrative Operations Coordinator at wmask@aotai-tech.com.

FERPA

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA) is a federal law that protects the privacy of student education records. The law applies to all schools that receive funds under an applicable program of the U.S. Department of Education.

The law allows schools to disclose some information from education records without consent. This exception is called "directory information." This information contained in the education records of a student would not generally be considered harmful or an invasion of privacy. Typical directory information includes:

  • Name
  • Degrees and awards received
  • Dates of attendance
  • Date of birth
  • Major field of study
  • Participation in officially-recognized sports and activities
  • Most recent previous educational institution attended
